The Romantic Elements in William Blakes Poems (A Stylistic Approach)

Abstract


The ability to
understand a literary work including poem is needed. A
poem that is written by English poet contains the rich-
ness of literary works, such as the values of morality and
humanity. In the period of Romanticism, there were a
lot of great poets, such as: William Blake. The problem
of this research is what Romantic elements are found in
William Blakes poems. The aim of this research is to nd
the Romantic elements in William Blakes poems. In this
research, the writer uses descriptive-qualitative method; it
means all the data are in the form of words and sentences.
The source of data in this research is six William Blakes
poems (Night, Jerusalem, A Poison Tree, I Heard an An-
gel, I Saw a Chapel, The Garden of Love). Through the
analysis of the Romantic elements in William Blakes po-
ems, the writer can conclude that the Romantic elements
are found in William Blakes poems. The Romantic elements
are found in William Blakes poems are Romantic element
of nature, Romantic element of imagination, Romantic el-
ement of emotions, Romantic element of rst person point
of view, and Romantic element of exotic.
